Tamás Fábián This album wrecked me in the best possible way <3 Favorite track: You Bring The Morning.

cojofosho If I’m not journaling or writing to process difficult things in life, then I’m probably listening to this record to ask all the unanswered questions of life. This isn’t just an album: it’s lyrical art in its most unresolved beauty. Let it wreck you. Favorite track: Before You God.

nathancarlton21 What happens when you mix the pilgrim/prophet/seeker proclivities of Bob Dylan, the blue collar honesty and down home sensibility of Bruce Springsteen, and the lament laden praise and worship of the Hebrew prophetic tradition? You get this record. Andy is a master craftsman of songwriting, and this album is worth every penny. Favorite track: God The Fool.

gxshepherd From start to finish...this album consistently results in a steady flow of much needed hot tears. Beautifully re-enchanting the notion of pilgrimage whilst embracing the frailty of being in exile - and clinging to hope of a better Kingdom. Favorite track: Love Never Fails.

gracedebtor I don't know that I've encountered an artist who so well expresses the lament, eventual hard-won hope, and sometimes joy that come from frequently wrestling with God. The late Rich Mullins did this very well, as have Jars of Clay and U2, but Andy Squyres just might surpass all of them in the poetry department -- and that's saying a lot. While Squyres has his own voice, if I had to make comparisons, I'd say he's somewhat of a cross between Rich Mullins, Bruce Springsteen, and Leonard Cohen. Favorite track: Kingfisher.

Dead Horse 05:16
Here is my harvest of heartbreak Here is my threshing of tears I'd give you my dream but I lost it Down in the locust years Still praise is the song that I'm singing Even though sorrow's my tune My love is only a whisper now But nothing is wasted with you Here is my secret miscarriage Here is my public divorce Nobody taught me to let go So I learned how to beat a dead horse Now all of my altars are empty  Except for this lone hallelu The heat of your fire’s just a memory But nothing is wasted with you Hungry as a mother who cannot find her child We keep missing each other I’m in the liquor aisle Prostrated in your glory I am bowed low under this Either nothing is wasted or everything is  Here in the Holy of holies Here by the blood of the lamb  Words I have said all my life and believe but still I do not understand  But I want to live in your presence However inopportune The heat of your fire’s just a memory But nothing is wasted with you My love is only a whisper now But nothing is wasted with you

Only prayer that I know Curse the damned highway patrol when the wind is all you have to sow you reap the whirlwind Knuckles white headed south Can’t avoid the slaughter house Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth When your light is growing dim bury my afflictions With my unrighteous years I don’t want no resurrection To raise any of my tears Send no angel to me At the eleventh hour Just swing a little lower for me chariot of fire What’s a liar gonna do Finally try to tell the truth Like foil inside my ragged tooth Like a wasp inside my mouth Too late to be circumspect Too deep on the razor’s edge I am sober as a judge And the verdict’s coming down

Trouble gonna come, like heart attack Like a locust swarm, turn the sun to black And all the things I knew, I don’t know no more Trouble gonna to us I’m sure Trouble gonna come drowning me like waves How did I become the one nobody saves All the things I’ve done, I cannot undo Trouble gonna come if nothing else is true On the gallows hill, God damned on a tree And if God is dead, what is that to me Trampling out our wrath on your flesh and blood A vintage pouring out, swallowing us Tender is the night, in it the blind can see But for those with sight, it’s hard to believe But it’s not hard for me, to kick against the goads To beat the beast that speaks, along the angel road So to the spirit wind, I sing my aching song Trouble gonna come, it won’t be long

Verse 1: You bring the gladness; I’ll bring the gleaming You bring the glory; I’ll bring the singing You bring the table; I’ll bring the feasting Somewhere in the distance I hear wedding bells ringing Verse 2: You bring the comfort; I’ll bring my thinking You bring the new wine; I’ll bring the drinking You bring your spirit; I’ll bring the weeping I have nothing else but the promises you’re keeping Chorus: You bring the morning; you bring the evening I’m gonna praise you with every breath that I’m breathing You bring the working day so a man can keep believing So a woman can keep on dreaming And after the fire dies, you open up our eyes again Verse 3: You bring the stillborn baby to my shoulder You bring your sorrow to every fallen soldier You bring your passion to the graves that we stand over Young love that we lost, we will find as we grow older Verse 4: You bring the mountain so I have somewhere to wander You bring the ocean so I can walk on water You bring the wilderness so I can learn to hunger I feel you like a phantom I can’t explain your wonder

God The Fool 04:32
For the wounds that I’ve inflicted, for the wounds that I’ve received I offer you my bitterness, I offer you my grief For the trust that I have broken, for the lies that I have told Forgive me God for giving, my heart away for gold I’m a merchant in your temple, selling sinners doves You turn over my tables with your foolishness oh God I am a sly sidewinder, a brood of vipers in your hand You’re an Appalachian preacher who I cannot withstand I’m running to your altar, I’m weeping on your floor I feel your love inside my heart, I wanna feel it more You said be wise and gentle like the serpent and the dove Only heeding half of your own advice is your foolishness oh God For the snow upon the mountain, melting down into the sea I will sit with you in silence and listen to you sing I will ask you all my questions, I will waste all of your time You don’t give the poet answers so the poet gives you rhyme What kind of mad man are you, taking on the worst of odds I’m chalking up my fortunes to your foolishness of God

There was a kingdom / Of latch keys swinging Like silver birds around our necks All of the orchards / sold off and cut down To the Gods of emptiness City of progress / Jehovah’s witness Left by her husband with three kids They were on welfare / just like we all were Who will you lose to get ahead Silicon Valley / You killed my family Family was all I had I heard you whisper / my name in silence As I was singing on my bed No one could hear me / You were so near me I cherish every word you said I am King David / My crown has faded Into an ashtray of regret Phone calls at midnight / Drowning at first light Life is nothing you’d expect You know I find you / hard to remember But still you’re harder to forget

Conceived in anger, born into a rage Raised by wolves who fed me on the injustice of the age My mother left me outside a stranger’s door She heard a howling wind and could not refuse it anymore Before you God I am opening my heart I know you did not expect me, I’m a thief in the night Before you God I will leave the ninety-nine To find you in the darkness, I will not leave you behind I’ve spent so much, wondering where you are Hammers in my head heavy as a dying star My daughters carry the same fears that I do My son loses sleep every night looking for you Before you God I am opening my heart I know you did not expect me, I’m a thief in the night Before you God I will leave the ninety-nine To find you in the darkness, I will not leave you behind I am a temple with a fallen spire Your absence burns me like a lake of fire Cure for my fear of cancer is dripping down my throat I still believe in miracles God, even when you don’t Before you God I will sing the exiles song I will bandage up your bruises by the shores of Babylon Before you God I am calling out your name Like a ghost upon the water I am coming back again
8.
Some of us sinners / Some of us saints Some of us between a rock and hard place Some of us welcome / some of us not Some of us the scapegoat / Some of us the mob All of us guilty / then all of us free A cup of joy poured out to our great relief So when the abyss had us tied to the rails Like a runaway train love never fails Some say it’s crazy / some take offense Some swear the law still demands recompense Some shot the sheriff and the deputy too Some heard the cock crow in the light of the moon All are atoned for / the wicked made whole The world’s scarlet letter / washed white as snow When the albatross curse all the wind from our sails We have no damns to give love never fails A weapon will prosper A levy will break The heartbreaker gives you More than you can take The trouble in trusting A savior not seen You find out he don’t fail When he don’t intervene find out he don’t fail When he don’t intervene Some of us doubtful / some of us weak Some are uncertain and still we believe Some overcoming / some testify There’s a righteousness in us that we can’t deny Some hallelujah some blessed be Some sing out in chains / some sing out free Our dreams up in smoke beneath plunging nail Punchline of the joke love never fails

Kingfisher 04:04
When I get where I’m going I will lend a steady hand Build a little cabin, dig a river through the land Does a pilgrim tremble when he finally finds a home When the rock bestows the water and binds the broken bone I go out walking in the forest to a place I’ve seen A fountain flowing like a highway running through my dreams When I get where I’m going, there’s a woman in the dust We have wrinkles on our bodies proving love’s been good to us She is standing proudly squinting in the summer sun Satisfied surveying all her hands have done We go out walking in the water where the silver swims Cicadas singing like somebody washed away their sins I see a kingfisher ascending to his rightful throne The meek inheriting a city they can call their own When I get where I’m going, guns are hammered into plows Promises we made to war, turn into broken vows Faithful is the Spirit, our troubles to employ The bread of our affliction returning to us joy Like horses foaming with the sweat of captives breaking free Like mother’s milk into the belly of a broken reed I go out walking on the mountain where the thunder rolls I smell the rain of heaven coming to the earth below I see a kingfisher ascending to his rightful throne The meek inheriting a city they can call their own

Early I marveled that I was alive Early afflicted, a thorn in my side Under this glory I learned to believe Somehow always feeling, what eyes could not see River of fire cut me through River of fire make me true Early I married for love and for sex Early I smelled your fragrance on my baby’s breath Staggering under this intoxicating yoke Drunk on the ashes, of my fears up in smoke Bridge: Late have I loved you Late have I tried Late have I loved you but Never mind the time Holy Spirit come again
